A West Midlands MP has praised a new affordable housing development in Coseley, West Midlands.
Pat McFadden, MP for Wolverhampton South East visited the site on Friday (Sep 13), which is being developed by Jessup Brothers for Accord Housing Association.
The site consists of 142 new homes, including 36 one and two bed apartments, plus a mixture of two, three and four bed houses all for affordable rent, which were constructed using timber frames from Accord’s offsite manufacturing facility LoCaL Homes.
LoCaL Homes uses the latest modern methods of construction to manufacture high quality, super energy efficient, timber framed homes.
Pat McFadden MP said: “I was pleased to see the development progressing and it was encouraging to meet some of the residents that had already moved in, they were thrilled with their new homes. It’s important that housing continues to be built to meet the growing housing need in the area.”
Customers started to move into the new homes in August 2019, and the site is due for completion in early 2020. The development is part funded with £5.6million grant from Homes England, the Government’s housing agency.
Alan Yates, Deputy Chief Executive at Accord added: “It was a pleasure to welcome Pat McFadden MP to our development on Darkhouse Lane, and show him first-hand how Accord is addressing the need for affordable housing both in Borough of Dudley, and across the West Midlands, whilst providing local jobs through our LoCaL Homes factory.
“Working closely with developers Jessups, this development has brought a redundant brownfield site back into use to provide great new homes for local people.”
