Organisations which work together for the wellbeing of older people in Walsall will come together next week to host a sweet event.

Pathways 4 Life service is joining up with Dudley and Walsall Mental Health Partnership NHS Trust’s Therapy and Liaison Community Service (TALCS) and Walsall Linkline to host a free event for local people to find out more about the range of services available to older people in Walsall.

‘Cake & Community’ is an opportunity to gain information about other support groups and activities for older people throughout the Walsall borough. With true collaborative working, colleagues from Pathways 4 Life, TALCS and Linkline will be on hand to give advice and signpost, as well seeking feedback on what services people feel is needed for older people in Walsall.

The event, which will be held on Wednesday 28th March 2018 at Pelsall Community Centre from 1pm- 4pm, will also feature a special performance from the preschool children at Little Rascals Nursery in Aldridge, Walsall.

Vicki Gobsill, Senior Community Mental Health Nurse from TALCS, said: “Our TALCS team work closely with older adults in the community offering a range of therapeutic treatments to help them with their mental wellbeing. Events such as ‘Cake & Community’ gives us the opportunity to showcase local services and to help people get the help they need.”

Janine Hayes, from Pathways 4 life Service said “Following on from the success of last year’s event, the ‘Cake & Community’ event is a great platform for older people in Walsall to socialise, broaden support networks, improve wellbeing and hopefully reduce the loneliness and isolation that is experienced by many older people. “

Pathways 4 Life, a partnership between Accord and Age UK Walsall funded by Walsall Clinical Commissioning Group, deliver a range of information, advice and support services to include seven dementia cafes on a monthly basis across the Walsall borough offering people with dementia and their families, the opportunity to meet, share experiences and access a range of support services
