Dementia Cafés
Caldmoreaccord run a dementia café scheme in partnership with Sandwell Council and local organisations for people living with dementia in Sandwell and Walsall.
Originally pioneered by Dr Bère Miesen in the Netherlands in 1997, the dementia café model is a setting in which people with dementia and their carers can come together in a friendly and comfortable place to socialise and get information and support.
Our cafés are hosted each month for two hours at a time in venues across the West Midlands including Sandwell, Walsall and Dudley, covering a range of days and times including evenings. A dedicated dementia cafe coordinator is available at every café as well as guest speakers, activities and free refreshments. Information about local services and signposting to other organisations who can give help and advice is also available.
The cafés are provided in conjunction with a number of local providers including Sandwell Mind, Options for Life, the West Bromwich African Caribbean Resource Centre, BUDS, Age UK Walsall, Dudley Council and Lunch on the Run.
For more information, or to register your interest in attending future cafés, call Janine Hayes on 0300 111 7000 or 07557 153 571 or email dementiacafes@accordgroup.org.uk
